Announcing a Partnership with the Maryland SPCA!

October 12, 2017

A Voice for the Voiceless: The Intersection of DV and Animal Abuse

With this partnership, we’re co-hosting FOUR trainings across the state on the intersections of domestic violence and animal abuse!

A voice for the voiceless - the intersections of dv and animal abuse flyerWe know that abusers will often use pets to control and manipulate their partners. Research has shown that 18-45% of domestic violence survivors delayed leaving an abusive home or have returned to their abuser out of fear for the welfare of their pets.

Participants of the training will learn about how to identify animal abuse, how to better safety plan with survivors who have pets, learn about screening and intake practices around pets, and more. This training is open to domestic violence service providers, animal service providers, and allied professionals.
